During her screen test for Lagaan, Gracy was asked to dance to the song "Hothon pe aisi baat", which was originally played by Vyjanthimala in the film Jewel Thief.
Was offered the role of "Sapna" in Qayamat: City Under Threat (2003) but turned it down because it required her to wear revealing clothes. Neha Dhupia later got that role.
Was supposed to star in a Hindi film called "Dil Dhadke Bar Bar" along with Amisha Patel and Karan Nath that was supposed to be released in 2003 and directed by Anees Bazmee. However, the project never developed further.

she thinks : -
[On her experience in Shart: The Challenge (2004)]: "It is a nice experience working within a southern set-up. Good directors is what I always look out for when I sign a movie. The story of this film is in itself not very great but the way he projected it was superb. Jagannathji has also written the script of this triangular love story."

[On her character in the film Wajjah...A Reason to Kill]: "I'm just playing a sensitive girl, a very strong character, who has family relations - parents and a person that she loves and wants to spend her life with. There can be no comparisons between this character and any other that I've done before."

Aditi govitrikar

Doctor turned model, actress, wife, mother, Mrs World 2001 Aditi Govitrikar, hails from a small town of Panvel, just outside of Bombay. A cute looking girl, eldest of three children, comes from a very orthodox, Maharashtrian Brahmin family. She got married to her all time sweet- heart Dr. Muzaffal Lakdawala and has a three-year-old daughter called Kiara.

A gynaecologist by profession, Aditi was never too interested in becoming a model. As a matter of fact, she says that she only thinks of it as a way to make money. If you're about to ask as to how a qualified doctor turned to modeling, here is the answer. A close friend of hers decided to send out some pictures to modeling agencies. Soon afterwards, she won the Glad Rags 1997 contest. In no time she was a Glad Rags supermodel. She also won the "Best Body" and "Best Face" prizes in the Asian Supermodel contest later that year. A fantastic career that wasn't interrupted even by Aditi's pregnancy! She posed for the cover of Elle when she was 8 months pregnant - not naked though!

Thereafter she appeared in a number of ads and music videos. Her first modeling assignment came from Ponds. But the music video she did for Adnan Sami opposite Salil Ankola, 'Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao' marked her debut in the tinsel town. People went gaga over her beautiful innocent eyes. Then followed the famous coke ad with Hrithik Roshan in which she was a replacement for Aishwarya Rai. This raised her popularity immensely.

Aditi entered into films with a South Indian film but her first Hindi film was Soch opposite Sanjay Kapoor in which she plays a madly- in- love actress. The film went unnoticed, but Aditi was signed for an action thriller 16 December opposite supermodel Milind Soman, in which she had a very small role and a song to her credit. Again her beauty surpassed her acting abilities and she looked as fresh as a drop of dew in the movie.

But even after entering into films, Aditi remains assertive on not giving up her modeling career. Ads and ramp are the aspects she loved to do most. “Besides”, she says, “the money is good too.” She has no qualms about dancing around trees, which she thinks is fun. She is one of those actresses, whose careers were never affected by marriage.

On her husband, Aditi says that he was always supportive of her modelling career and marriage did not change that for the worse. It seems that her husband's support has given her wings. On her interests, she says she likes reading and shopping. And she loves to shop for clothes, with her favourites designers being Manish Malhotra and Shahab Durazi.

"Call it my Gemini temperament or what you will, but I have this urge to change my profession every now and then." asserts Aditi. Well, she has already been a doctor, a model and an actress. What comes next? Actually her next venture most probably would be towards getting a PG degree in cosmetology. We could think of this as the balancing point between medicine and modeling, but it is nevertheless an ambitious wish keeping in mind how busy she must be with her career and her daughter. Aditi Govitrikar is certainly one of the most amazing personalities rising on the Bollywood horizon.

Antara mali

Antara Mali has come a long way from the bordering-on-plump girl of Mast to the bold and spunky heroine of Road. Her dad is the renowned commercial photographer Jagdish Mali and her mother is a theatre actress. Her grandfather, Shantanu Mali was a painter. With a legacy like this, it was only natural that Antara Mali would take to the arts, though it was films that interested her.

But it has been a roller-coaster ride for Antara till now who made her debut in a low-budget film called Dhoondte Reh Jaonge, which went unnoticed. To Antara's dismay, her second film Dum Dum Diga Diga was shelved half-way through. Her next break came with a Telugu film, Prem Katha directed by Ramgopal Verma, who later ensured her a slot in her first hindi film Mast. After this, she became a staple feature in Ram Gopal Varma’s movies, the next one being Company in which she played a complex and a deep character. Antara has loads of talent, and there can be no greater personality than Amitabh to testify. He was so impressed by her performance in 'Company' that he called her personally, and congratulated her.

Her next release was the offbeat Road, which saw her transformation into a sizzling, bold and sexy Antara, with an enviably perfect figure to drool over. How did Antara manage the transition, considering bread and potatoes are her favourite foods? “Yoga,” she says, simply.

Antara is most famous for her role of Madhuri in 'Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon' which was her way of paying a tribute to the legendary actress Madhuri Dixit who remained Antara’s icon for years.

From pomfrets and shrimps to a vegetarian, Antara loves typical Maharashtrian food, vada pav being her favourite. “But dessert is a must”, says the spice girl with a sweet tooth who loves chocolate mousse and cheesecake.

Mature beyond her years, spontaneous and sensitive, it's difficult to ignore Antara. Her latest release ‘Gayab’ saw her looking hot in her skimpy outfits giving other bold babes a run for their money. With the projects pouring in, Antara Mali will be seen in a mix of meaningful and entertaining films, including Anurag Kashyap’s Gulaal and soon to be released Naach with Abhishek Bachchan. Eventually, she plans to move into film direction.

The lissome lasso is much more than you see. Inside the good girl, who sports an 'Om' tattoo on her arm, resides a naughty nymphet, who also sports a devil tattoo on her curvaceous body. Where? Keep guessing!

Due to tradition of most Tamil-Iyer families, Vidya and her Priya learned Carnatic dance form during their early childhood days, but Vidya opted out as the dance classes took place early on Sunday mornings and as she is not an early riser.

Considerably overweight during her school-days, she decided to shed those extra pounds when she elected to opt for modeling and movies. Her first break came with a Malyalam movie 'Chakram' opposite Mohanlal, however, the project was shelved, and she had to wait until 1998 to debut in a Surf Excel commercial. She then had to undergo 17 make-up shoots and 40 screen tests before being chosen for this role. In retrospect I thank God, and by God's grace today the going is good."

Urmila matondkar

Date of Birth : 4 February 1974, Bombay, India
Height : 5' 1½" (1.56 m)

The daughter of a lecturer, actress Urmila Matondkar began her celluloid career as a child artiste with the film _Kalyug (1980)_. Although an average film at the box-office, her next film, Masoom (1983), about a family coping with an illegitimate member, showed her acting talents blossom and she received critical acclaim from both her fans and the film fraternity. She subsequently appeared in a number of films including Dacait (1987), where she plays Sunny Deol's under-aged sister who gets brutally raped.

Years later, Urmila then made her debut as an adult actress in N. Chandra's Narasimha (1991) opposite Sunny Deol . She then did the fantasy Chamatkar (1992/I) with the then-débutant Shahrukh Khan and Shreemaan Aashique (1993), a comedy on male chauvinism opposite Anupam Kher and Rishi Kapoor and a crime movie Drohi (1992), But no matter what films she did, while her fellow actresses Manisha Koirala and Raveena Tandon reached the peak of their popularity with blockbuster after blockbuster, success seemed to elude her.

Then she did Ram Gopal Varma's Rangeela (1995), a tale of a girl's journey in the film industry. The movie came as a refreshing surprise and Urmila gave a magnificent performance, which is no small feet alongside actors Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff, but what gave the film classic status was A.R. Rahman's music, Asha Bhosle's songs and designer Manish Malhotra, who transformed Urmila from a Maharashtrian middle-class girl into a sexy and glamorous actress. With this movie Urmila revolutionized sensuality on the Indian screen. What most actresses hadn't managed even after a dozen hits, Urmila had achieved with only one film. And ever since, she has been associated with Asha Bhosle's sensual voice and of course the image of the sizzling seductress - in fact, she is still known for her sizzling sensuality and her stunning looks.
However, Urmila is not to be judged only for her looks.

She is also an actress of great talent and skill - her performance in Satya (1998) as a modest girl whose boyfriend, the titular character, gets sucked into the Bombay underworld is one of her best ever performances to date. And since 2000, she began to play roles of depth and substance, making an impact most notably in the films Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya... (2001), Om Jai Jagadish (2002), Pinjar (2003), a drama based on India's partition, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara (2005), about a man accused of Gandhi's murder and Ek Dhun Banaras Kee (2006).

As of 2006, she has acquired several assignments, both using her talents as an actress and as a seductress - she is doing Onir's Bas Ek Pal (2006) and Ram Gopal Varma's Sholay (2006), the latter of which audiences are eagerly waiting for with bated breath...
Today Urmila is known as one of Bollywood's most versatile actresses. After Sridevi, she is known to have the played the most varied characters next to fellow actresses Tabu and Mahima Chaudhry.

she is : -
Indian model.
Her father is a lecturer
Has worked with other top actresses like Sridevi, Manisha Koirala, Mahima Chaudhry, Juhi Chawla and Rekha which proves that she's not afraid to share credit.
Also well known (along with actresses Sonali Bendre, Raveena Tandon and Sushmita Sen) for her sensational dance numbers.
She started her career as a child artist.
She has played three different negative roles: In 'Kaun' she was a sociopath, in 'Pyar Tune Kya Kiya' she plays a desperate woman who won't give up at any cost to get what she wants and in 'Om Jay Jagadish', she plays the arrogant and uptight wife and daughter-in-law. She has played a semi-negative role in 'Bhoot', where she plays a newly wedded housewife who gets possessed by a dead woman.
Was very good at academics in school. has been awarded the scholarship (state wide conducted examination) in the 4th standard.

she thinks : -

When I saw Chamma Chamma, I was extremely disappointed. It wasn't even one-hundredth of what I'd put in.
People can't digest the fact that I am still sane, while everyone around is breaking down
I am obsessed with the way I look in a film. I can't look like a mess to prove that I am not vain.
I haven't patented my acting style. So anybody is free to copy it as and when desired. Many actresses have already tried it, successfully or unsuccessfully
I honestly feel that what we are doing is no big deal. After Sridevi, none of us can even claim, we are such big stars.

Always wanting to be part of showbiz, she was not quite happy with her life in Dehra Dun. When she proposed to leave town for Bombay, her parents initially opposed, but subsequently let her have her own way.

She soon started modeling for Nokia, Star Movies, Pepsi and Titan watches.
In 2003 Bollywood actress turned film-maker, Pooja Bhatt offered her a role in Paap, which failed to make any impact at the box office, but did get stunningly beautiful Udita noticed, so much so that she got an offer to act in Zeher - a movie that made her famous virtually overnight.
She has subsequently appeared in Aksar; has a special appearance in Dil Diya Hai; has appeared in a music video by Ahmed Patel titled 'Kya Khoob Lagti Ho' opposite Upen Patel.

She has also been involved in political awareness & has done a show for the Sick Kids Foundation. She was award presenter in 2004 for the 49th Filmfare Awards in 2003.

Udita is currently reviewing all offers that are coming her way and is open to acting in commercial movies - if she likes the role.

she is : -

Is a model turned actress.

she thinks : -

"One never knows what destiny has in store. I always knew I wanted to be in the glamour industry. I did well as a model and now I hope all works for me as an actress".
About her debut film Paap (2004): "I didn't want to make a debut in a film seeing which the audience would say, 'Oh, just another model, who's come and gone.' I needed people to sit up and take notice of me."

She is from the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Her attitude places her in quite a different category of bollywood actresses. Her appereance on the screen are mostly in scanty clad clothing which in turn make her look at her best.

Udita was educated in Dehradun, capital of the Indian state of Uttarakhand, nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. She studied in D.A.V.Public school until class 8. She is currently dating director Mahesh Bhatt nephew (Mohit suri).

The green-eyed model started career in modeling, then made her jump into the Bollywood industry.

She has been a model for high profile companies before joining the Bollywood. Her gorgeous looks have quickly established her as a Bollywood heart-throb.This doe eyed ‘84 born has been in lime-light for her extremely successful modeling assignments for brands like Pepsi, Sun.com, Nokia, Star Movies, Platinum, Levis, Wills Sports, Lee Cooper, Rags, Elle Sports, Rupam, Park Hotel, Taj Hotel, Titan Watches, Brylcream, etc. Having modeled for an array of products, acting naturally figured in Udita's scheme of things.

Udita is the winner of "MTV Model Mission 2 and of prestigious Model of the Universe Asia 2001” and can also been seen on covers of ELLE, Femina, Cosmopolitan, Bride n Home, Zinc, etc. She has been very active on ramp and is featured in shows by Suneet Verma, Tarun Tahilyani, Nikki Mahajan and Ranna Gill.

With no formal training in acting and no star-child tag to boot, Udita has left an impression on the audience with her sensuous looks and her effervescent smile. Among her favorite actors are Gary Cooper, Shashi Kapoor, Rekha and Marilyn Monroe. Quite a foodie, Udita freaks on Goan food. Her favorite perfume is Red Door by Elizabeth Arden.

Udita Goswami set the small screen on fire as the Channel [V] Goddess. The green-eyed beauty of the ramp made her foray into cinema with Pooja Bhatt’s directorial debut "Paap". While the film didn’t work at the turnstiles, the electric chemistry between Udita and the male lead, John Abraham, was definitely the talk of tinsel town.

However her movie career didn't get off to a very good start, with her first film,"Paap", flopping commercially in 2003. But Udita got rave reviews in her unconventional act of a Buddhist monk. She looked absolutely gorgeous and fresh in the film.Unphased by the set-back Udita persisted with her acting career.

Fortunately, her next role in 2005's low-budget "Zeher" was successful and became her breakthrough role. Her role was that of a femme fatale in this film. The film was quite controversial as it included some explicit scenes. The film's success was probably due, in no small part, to the controversial its sparked with its explicit scenes – with many people saying Udita showed too much skin in the movie. However the film was succesful in establishing her as a well known face in the industry.

She also acted in the movie "Aksar", opposite Dino Morea and Emraan Hashmi. Her performance in the movie Aksar and especially the song “Laagi Laagi” was very noticeable. And she established herself as one of the hottest babes in the industry.

She was featured with Upen Patel in Ahmed Khan's music video of the remix of "Kya Khoob Lagti Ho".Udita has done performances for political awareness.

Her upcoming film is "Aggar" opposite Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade. With an army of male fans, Udita's acting career will almost certainly soar even higher in the future.

Sushmita Sen

Date of Birth : 19 November 1975, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India
Birth Name : Sushmita Shubeer Sen
Nickname : Titu Sush Sush
Height : 5' 10½" (1.79 m)

Sushmita was born in the Bengali-speaking Sen family on November 19, 1975 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. Her family consists of her dad, Shubeer, a former Indian Air Force Wing Commander; mom, Subhra, Jewelry Designer and owner of a Dubai-based store. She has two siblings, a sister named Neelam, who is married to Nauman Malik, and a brother named Rajeev. Subhra's dad was a poet.

She attended different schools in Jorhat, and Nagpur, but spend the majority of her schooling days in the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute and Air Force Silver School in Delhi. She was regarded as a tomboy and spent most of her times with boys. Since the schools were Hindi medium, she could not speak English until she was 16 years of age. She subsequently not only mastered English, but became an English Honors student, and also obtained a degree in Journalism. Due to her place of birth she can speak Urdu flawlessly.

Her first public appearance was at the Air Force Club Contest at the age of 15. She did a few fashion shows thereafter. Then during 1994 she decided to be a participant in Miss India beauty pageant, fully aware that she was being pitted against the reigning favorite, Aishwarya Rai. Sushmita took everyone by surprise when she was crowned Miss India while Aishwarya had to content with being the First Runner-up. Both beauties went on to win Miss Universe and Miss World titles respectively. Ironically the final outfit for Miss Universe for Sushmita was made by a little-known Meena Bazar tailor, and her mom.

It was during 1996 that she first appeared as herself in a Bollywood movie titled 'Dastak'. Though the movie did not fare too well, she was noticed and thus began her career on the silver screen. She has since then portrayed herself in a variety of characters and also some 'item' numbers.

Not considered a classic beauty and leading quite an unconventional lifestyle she ended up in many relationships but did not marry anyone. She wanted to be a mother and to adopt a baby girl, and name her Renee. Since she is single, she had to fight a Court battle before she could finally adopt Renee. Finally on 13 April 2000 she was given the go-ahead to adopt her, even though the family-owned business in Dubai was already re-named as 'Renee' quite ironically a year earlier on 13 April 1999.

she is : -

Miss Universe 1994
Miss India 1994
Has an adopted daughter by the name of Renee.
She is the first Indian to win a Miss Universe Title in 1994.
She won the best supporting actress award in the year 2000 for her role in 'Biwi No. 1' which was the biggest hit of 1999.
Enjoys writing prose and poetry.
Listed as number 10 of 'Top Bollywood Actresses' of 2006. (rediff.com, 8-25-2006)

she thinks : -

"I have many memorable moments in my treasure-chest of memories but the day I became a mother is something special. On June 30, 2000 the courts handed me my daughter, Renee. I was ecstatic that day. I loved Renee from the first time I laid eyes on her. In court the fight was a tough one as I was a single parent and a celebrity, so those were marks against me. But I still won and got my daughter." (Movie Mag International, July 2004)

"I am totally a beach person. I love South America and I've been there lots of times, specially Venezuela and Brazil. They are great vacation cities. There is not a single country in South America that I have not been to. Among the places I haven't seen but which I would love to visit, Spain tops my list." (Movie Mag International, July 2004)

"Yes, I am a night person but I prefer staying awake at home till late at night. I rarely go to any pub. I would rather hang out at home with loud music and dance in my room. Abroad I love going to restaurants like 'Sky Bar' in Los Angeles and 'Tao' in New York." (Movie Mag International, July 2004)

Her thoughts about touring: "Doing these kind of shows take a lot of planning and activity and ends up being extremely hectic. So to revive myself, I look for those small moments that make you forget the rigors of the tour." (Lifeline magazine, Fall 2006)

"Between 18 to 20, I really thought there were fun things in life that I would much rather be doing than worrying about the responsibilities of that magnitude. But now at 30, I feel I was able to get a jump-start on my life and have achieved a lot. I don't feel I missed out anything." (Lifeline magazine, Fall 2006)

"I feel I started my life when I won at Goa - The Miss India contest. Then another memorable moment was when I won the Miss Universe crown in Manila. There have been several others. But none of those moments compare to what I felt on July 31 in 2001. That was when the court gave me Renee's adoption rights. Renee means "to be born again", and after having her in my life, I feel reborn. I don't want anything to go wrong for her ever. So I am that much more careful with my life now. No more rash driving. Being a mother, I don't think anything has topped the moment yet." (Lifeline magazine, Fall 2006)

"The reason why I wanted to be famous! No one's asked me that one so I am going to tell it now. I have always thought that a person is born, lives his life, goes through life in a certain way, maybe does some good things that everyone applauds... maybe your family, maybe your friends. But when you die, you want to have touched a few more lives. You want people to feel the loss when you go and miss you. I want to be famous because I want my fans to become my extended family." (Lifeline magazine, Fall 2006)

On how she would react if a woman made a pass on her: "I'd say, 'thank you'. Another human being likes you, what's wrong with that? How far they like you is again, their problem, not yours. That woman has made a choice of being with another woman, I have made mine to be with a man. It's just a difference in our sexual preferences. Doesn't mean one is acceptable and the other is appalling. Absolutely not!" (Stardust magazine, September 2006)

"If the need arises and my heart doesn't agree with it (marriage), I will have children without getting married." (Stardust magazine, September 2006)

"Today if you take a poll asking men if they want to be with women who are 30 and virgins, they will run away." (Stardust magazine, September 2006)

When asked if sex is over-rated in India: "There was a time when it definitely was, not anymore. It was something you didn't talk about, and from the face of it, people from good families probably never did it. But today, media primarily focuses its attention on sex, so much that it's inevitable that it would become a part of the social structure. It's not like it didn't exist before, we're the land of the KamaSutra. Today, people are more comfortable talking about it." (Stardust magazine, September 2006)

"I'm 30, and enjoying every bit of it. I haven't changed a thing that I don't like wearing and the only reason I don't wear it is 'coz I don't like it on myself. I reveal when I feel like it. Today I do, tomorrow, I might not. It's about freedom of choice, not age. All power to people who understand that ultimately, clothes are going on your body. If you are comfortable with it, wear it. I'm not judgmental about the way people dress. What disturbs me however, is if after you've worn it, you're constantly talking, pulling, figuring yourself out. Thats disturbing." (Stardust magazine, September 2006)

She always had a flair for learning languages. Being in the film industry gave her an opportunity to learn several including Gujarati, Italian and Tamil, apart from the ones she already knew like Marathi, Hindi and English.

Her earliest memories in the performing arts goes back to performing at Ganapathy Utsav - in a culturally active colony in Pune. She participated in everything, sports, music, dance and theatre. Her elder brother Sandeep was supportive for her pursuing theatre and is totally responsible for her foundation in theatre.

She got her first break in high school, when she attended a workshop by Satyadev Dubey and realised the importance of choosing one creative pursuit. It was then she decided to chose acting as her career option. She established a theater group along with her brother Sandesh inPune by the name "Samanvay". Samanvay is a group of people passionate about theatre - from acting to direction to production. Sandesh Kulkarni, Sonali Kulkarni, Amrita Subash, Nikhil Ratnaparkhi, Shashank Shende, Kiran, Nilesh Kulkarni and Sameer Doshi form Samanvay. Each person in the group is a name to reckon with today, in their respective specialities.

She did not realise when acting turned into her passion. While she was studying at Ferguson College, Pune, she got her first break in cinema - in Cheluvi, directed by well known playwright and filmmaker Girish Karnad.

She was just a teenager when she auditioned for Girish Karnad's Cheluvi (a fantasy about a girl who can become a tree). In Dr. Jabbar Patel's "Mukta", she played a character facing discrimination. She did not want to secure herself to one genre or language. She wanted to try new things and reach out to the whole world. She wanted to do 'world cinema'.

Sergio Scapagnini saw her first film "Cheluvi" at the Cannes Film Festival and as a result she got to work in Vrindavan Film Studios which was shot in India and abroad. Directed by Lamberto Lambertini, with an entirely Italian crew, this film had just three Indians in the cast, Mohan Agashe, Gautam Ghosh and Sonali Kulkarni.

After a couple of films in Tamil and Marathi, the turning point came when she landed the lead role in her first Hindi feature film "Daayraa". The film was directed by Amol Palekar. The film went on to win her the Best Actress Award in France International Film Festival.

Despite the critical acclaim and years of work in regional and parallel cinema, she didnot get the recognition until Mission Kashmir. Mission Kashmir was the turning point for her in that sense. The film had a national and international release. It brought her the kind of recognition that she could never have dreamed of. That year she was nominated for each and every award for that role.

Next "Dil Chahta Hai" was offered to her which helped her to get even more fame and established her as a heroine in Bollywood."Dil Chahta Hai" was a refreshing change for her.She appeared in several commercial films after that. Some of these films are-Dil Vil Pyar Vyar (2002), Junoon (2002), Kitne Door Kitne Paas (2002), Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya (2001), Agni Varsha (2002),Danav (2003), Silence Please... In Agni Varsha, her costumes were from that era - very basic, bare essential pieces of cloth. Initially she was a bit shy. But by the end of the first day, she was cool with it. She loved her character in the film - a simple woman who stands up for truth.

In the film "White Rainbow", directed by Dharan Mandrayer (nephew of legendary Tamil film thespian Sivaji Ganesan) is a touching story about the widows of Vrindavan. She plays the role of Priya, a character based on the real life social activist Mohini Giri who runs the Guild of Service in Vrindavan.

Sonali also worked in the Gujarati film "Love is Blind" which was released in Nov 2005. This refreshing film was made with an aim to draw audiences back to regional cinema. This humorous film with rocking music has been a hit with the Gujaratis - young and old. Directed by Vipul Shah and produced by R H Kampani of Nugget Entertainments Co., Her co-star in the film is Sandeep Patel, brother of the famous singer Devang Patel.

She has also worked in the Italian film "Fuoco Di Su Me" (transalates to Fire at my Heart) and being a stranger to the language made it both interesting and exciting. It was her work in "The Vrindavan Film Studio" several years ago that got her the role. Working on it has been a fabulous experience for her , especially with Omar Sherif as part of the cast. Shot mostly in Procida, Italy, it required her to learn Italian and get her accent right a month before shooting began. Sonali Kulkarni has won the best actress award at the Milan Film Festival for her performance in the film Fuoco Su Di Me (My Heart Is On Fire) on April 12, 2006.

Released in March 2006, Taxi No. 9211 was a film she signed almost instantly after listening to the impactful narration by Milan Luthria, the director. She loved the story and her character in the film. The film totally reflects today's Bombay. Her role has been appreciated by fans and critics as well.

She was in Venice in Sep. 2005, where she had gone to attend the Red Carpet Grand Screening of her Italian film "Fuoco su di me" directed by by Lamberto Lambertini at the 62nd Venice Film Festival.

Her strength in cinema has always been doing a variety of roles. From a tree in Cheluvi, to a boy in Daayra, from an innocent kid sister in Doghi, to a spicy wife in Taxi No. 9211, She has always offered variety to her audience.

Sonali's home is a place to relax for her.Rangoli, thorans, bells, lamps and fancy curtains adorn her flat. Her creativity was at its peak when doing up her place and she loved every moment of the four months it took.

When She is not shooting, her day begins with pranayams followed by tea.She also loves to read and write in her leisure. She also loves cooking. But her favorite food is her mom's traditional recipes. She also has ten minutes of meditation before lunchtime as she believes that it is very refreshing for the mind.
